The Fat Blokes – Iain & Adam

So we’ve done it. Two slightly podgy nearly 40somethings have signed up to do the London To Paris bike Ride in 2017.

I’m filled with both excitement and trepidation in equal measure but we have a year to prepare and I’m in a lot better shape than when I did the London to Brighton ride after 6 months of cycling.

We’re going to raise money for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and hopefully we can raise a lot of money for a smaller, yet still as important, charity.

The actual journey starts on the 19th July 2017 and finishes under the Eiffel Tower on the 22nd July 2017 taking in Calais, Abbeville and Beauvais en route to the capital. This will be the story of that journey and the preparation that goes with it.

Hi Iain. I stumbled across your blog while googling pictures of my new bike (Felt Z75). Read through it, laughed, agreed with your opinions on good/bad car/bike behaviour. I’m a 40 year old cyclist and I love hearing other people’s riding stories. We all go through the same weather and time related ups and downs, crashes and mechanicals. What we don’t all go through is the reason I’ve commented on your blog. You are doing something truly inspirational for an amazing cause. Keep up with the training. I’ll be out there with you in the cold and the rain. I’ll definitely be donating. All the best to you in the future and good luck with the bike ride!

Hi Daniel. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the donation, very generous especially seeing as you don’t know us. I hope you enjoy the Z75, it’s a lovely bike but I had to get a different saddle! I’m sure there will be more stories as the countdown to Paris continues
